Busy Teacher's Day!

Happy Teacher's Day to all my teachers and friends who are teachers! May all of us be able to continue to get a great sense of satisfaction in our job. At the end of the day, may all our hard work be worthwhile. Let's maintain our positive mindset in the midst of this negative society with its negative circumstances.

The day started with ACES Day dance. The P3 and 4 pupils did a YMCA dance. Personally I feel that Mrs Chan did a good job in teaching the kids the dance. It was a good workout. After which I had 2 periods of PE. Then it was recess time and my kids had a class party. They gave me a plate of food and they were all busy eating in the canteen. I really wondered if it was teacher's day or children's day. Anyway, after that I was busy setting up the prize table. Then it was teacher's day concert. So I rushed up to give out the prizes and then enjoy the concert. I liked the beginning item. 2 girls sang "You Raised Me Up" and there was a slide show with pictures of the teachers. It was really touching and opened up the concert very well. Then it was followed by pupils imitating their teachers. That was super funny.

After the concert, I had 2 HE lessons. Then it was afternoon session and I went up to help Aaron with his ACES Day exercises. We did some "KUNGFU"-animal stances, YMCA dance followed by chicken dance. The chicken dance was super tiring and hilarious. We danced many many rounds. It was really a good workout!

Finally there was time to have my lunch at the buffet provided by the VSP. I was already too tired to eat and there was no more drinks! I packed my table with the help of my best PA-Ms Elaine Chan! Managed to pack all the gifts into 2 bags. Then I cycled home and slept a while.

It's another busy time as I rushed down to Meritus Mandarin with Mr Low and TBT for our rehearsal for singing competition. Basically, I could see the whole school supporting TBT, Marina, Liana, Stella, Tong Joo, Fazila, Steph and myself. I was super touched. Honestly speaking, I wasn't very disappointed that I didn't win. I just felt bad that I'd wasted the efforts of the supporters. We really went all out to support one another. I didn't have a good meal at all. To make things worst, NONE of the 100+ staff in our school won any lucky draw!!!!!! I was really pissed. No matter what, I am proud of my school! My school is still the best! We took lots of glamour shots!

This was my outfit for the song "Bad Boy".

The pretty ladies with the guy that's not supposed to be in the picture.

The highlight of the day was a nights out at MOS. It's my 1st time at MOS. I wonder why some of the people didn't join us. It's also the 1st time that I drank so little and yet I danced the whole night. I think I was already pretty high after my performance. And we saw a funny side of someone. Hilarious but cool! I'm looking forward to the next nights out with my super cool colleagues!

An early birthday celebration

I had a wonderful day yesterday. Watched Money No Enough 2 with Wen, Merf, Eunice, MK, Tianhua and Fu Qiang at Expo Hall 8. It was a really funny and touching movie. Jack Neo really captured the hearts of Singaporeans. The movie left some of us thinking. Who to save? Mum or daughter? I don't really know and I pray that such a dilemma will never happen to any of us.

Seriously, in our Asian culture, we don't really tell our parents that we love them. I don't really dare to too. It's funny how I can hug all my ex-members but yet find it hard to hug my own mum. Once a year during mother's day or her birthday, I'll try to give her a hug. Did that last year. Hopefully this year I'll have more courage to do so. =D

After the movie, I went to Cityhall to meet my ex-members cum ex-students together with Terry Di. Haha. They will always remain as the beloved in my heart. I wonder why I can love them so much. Probably because they love me a lot too. When can I get back this kind of love for people? Anyway, I miss this kind of fellowship with them. We ate at Hong Kong cafe then moved on to MOF for dessert.

Look at the table full of food!

I wasn't feeling very well. Was down with flu. So I had Century Egg Porridge and Honey Lemon. The honey lemon was good because it kinda cleared my nose for a while. But it was too sweet! Just like those people in the photos above! Haha!

They tried their very best to surprise me with a birthday cake and I had to act as if I didn't know anything. Thanks gals for the effort. I really appreciate it lots!

And how can we forget to take a picture before we leave? Pictures always brings us down the memory lane...

It was really a fruitful day that brought me down the memory lane of W220. From the young boys and girls to the mature men and women I see now, I am very proud of them. I love you all, my beloved! Thanks for touching my life wth your actions of love. Life won't be as beautiful without you.

Random thoughts..

Another tiring week has passed. I'm now in school as a reserve for the P3 screening test. Heard about a sad story of an unwanted kid in my class and I feel sad for him. How terrible it is when parents are irresponsible towards their kids. Their kids suffer and they become a menace in the society. What can I do for them and how can I help them?

We've learnt in CGM last night about our ATTITUDE DETERMINES OUR ALTITUDE. I need to be WILLING to spend more time with my pupils. I need to be WILLING to help others the best that I know how. I need to FIGHT again.

Many memories filled my mind as we were worshiping God yesterday. The extra extra miles that I'd made for God, the joy of serving even when my energy level was low and the happiness of bringing those that I love to Christ and seeing them grow in the kingdom of God. Indeed, no one will understand that joy unless he/she goes through it. And indeed, there will always be high and low seasons of our lives. We go through valleys and go up on mountain tops. Like what Wendy prayed, this will be a last fight that we'll know that we'll never regret and we'll definitely bear fruits. Only if we fight again. Yes, we will go through more hardships and challenges, but it will be all worth it.

I felt it strong in my heart last night that God wants all of us to know that it is alright to "wrestle" with Him. It is alright to ask Him why things are happening around us and "argue". Just like how Jacob wrestled with God and got his blessings in the end. This is a form of communication with Him too. He'll rather we "argue" with Him than we keep quiet about it. When going through difficult times, many people just choose to keep quiet and hate Him and then walk away. We should keep fighting and asking until we get our answers. This requires patience and perseverance. These few mornings, I've been asking God lots of "WHY" about things that had happened the past two years. Although I still have not gotten any answers from Him, I felt that God was pleased that I asked. Maybe I've stopped asking for a very long time. I've been living life as it is, complacent, for many many many months. It's time to be ALIVE!

I do like to be alone.

I used to dislike eating alone. But now I think I like it more and more. Especially when I have such a busy schedule with so many things on hand. I like to be alone doing what I like. There's no need to wait for anyone and no need to let anyone wait for me. I love this solitude that I have now. I am happy with it. Somehow, I got used to doing things at the comfort of my home on my own. Maybe I'm getting old. I don't like to go out too often now. Or maybe I was sian by the many events where no one else wants to go out. Or maybe it's because I now have a PSP to play at my own leisure. Maybe I haven't found someone that I yearn to see and meet everyday. Maybe.. I just like being alone. Hahaha. So leave me alone!

In deep trouble...

I've landed myself in deep trouble.. My emplacement is not in yet and I promised the basketball boys to buy sports drink for them.. Gosh. They cost a bomb. So I bought Sunkist and glucolin instead, which cost about $10. So every week I need to spend additional $10 on the kids. Then to encourage my kids to do well for Mathematics, I've promised to buy gifts for them if they improved.. That amounts to a fair sum of money too.. And I wanted so much to buy model ruler for everyone of my kids.. but that cost a bomb too.. Money money money.. Money really no enough!!! I should really stop eating at old airport road for the time being.

Tomorrow I need to help out in NAPFA retest. But just now then I realised that my remedial is on Friday!!!!! I kept thinking that my remedial is on Thursday. :( My poor kids.. "punished" for my mistakes.

Frustration.

I've been really short tempered lately. I guess it's time to manage my expectation towards work, people and the things happening around me.

Had a super boring chalet since Friday. No highlights. No sports. No physical activites except Mahjong and BBQ. Well, I was disappointed. Very.

It was definitely a good cruising period in a young adult CG, relaxing and laid-back(to me). Too much laid-backness makes me feel frustrated now. I was reminded of the fun filled, super tiring time that I had when I was a youth and serving in a youth CG. I missed those days in W76, W140 and W220. I admit that my energy level will never be back to where I was, but at least there's still something that I can do. And I know I always have people supporting me back then. Now that I'm playing the supporting role, I realised I haven't been much a support at all. I'm half-hearted in the things that I do. Last time I put my whole heart in the things I do because I know that it's worthwhile doing that. Now? I need time and prayers to readjust myself back to have the heart of God in order to be selfless and willing to do things for others especially for people that had failed me.

I'm struggling inside. Maybe it's time to move on to a new place again. Maybe it's time to serve in a ministry actively again. Maybe maybe maybe.. After slacking for so long, will I be able to get my engine up again?

Now I feel so lazy. All I can think of is to sleep and enjoy myself.

It was a breeze today...

Teaching was a breeze because someone was sick today. Everyone felt that peace and I managed to finish all the revision. I was really happy. Something even cuter happened during remedial. I printed 6 worksheets for each person and I required them to only do some questions for each worksheet. In the end, they managed to finish everything within 1 hr with 90% accuracy. I was really amazed. The best thing was, they actually snatched and were so enthusiastic towards the homework that I'm giving them. Being in remedial seemed to be like being in an elite group for them.

Maybe I should just spend more time with them, most of them might just do well for their Mathematics by the end of the year!!!! Wow! The power of love! I can make a difference!

It's a mad mad day!!!!

It's Book Character Day today. All the P4 teachers put on our costumes during our TTT and gave our pupils a shock during recess. I think the kids and teachers really had fun. Personally I had lots of fun running around with my camera. And I really see the adorable side of all my kids.

Here's my super on P4 level.

And my wonderful cute kids.. (I wonder if I can put their photos here...)

They were really darlings today. I told everyone to bring fruit to eat together today and one of the boys brought grape. Guess how big his grapes were? It's smaller than a 5 cent coin. Hahahahaha!

I think these 2 pictures are very classic. Shows the vicious side of woman. Do not mess with women!

This is how I looked like from top to toe. Now then I realised that the pants with the boots looked weird. Ha!

Today is also our photo taking session for our 55th School Anniversary magazine. So we were all busy taking photos the whole day. However, taking with the whole PE & Aesthetics department is not satisfying enough... so the PE comm went to take our funky shots together. Super fun!

Does Aaron look like he's lifting the 2 of us up?

Funny candid.

See how strong Jason is??!!!

There were many candid photos. After all the madness.. We settled down for a nice, warm picture.

After the photo session, some of us went to Turtle House for lunch.. Then we proceeded back to school to do work. Who knows.. at about 3pm a whole lot of us started chatting and laughing till 5pm. Gosh. All work undone. So, it's working time now!

Sick.

James 2:14-16

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

I wasn't feeling well since yesterday. Till night time, I still felt sick. So I sms my "boss" and asked if he could go to school earlier to help me keep an eye on the students that will be running in the morning. The reply was that he had to send his kid to school and will only reach school at 7.20am, followed by a "take care". This verse immediately came into my mind and I was so disappointed. Then I thought about the whole running program and realised that he hasn't even been supporting the program at all. No actions and words of encouragements. The most encouraging words and actions came from colleagues in other departments. I really felt let down and wonder why I should even go the extra mile for him in the past. From now onwards, I will never change any of my schedule just to suit his needs. I will monitor my "OK, no problem" to any of his requests.

Then I thought about a whole lot of things. And I was reminded of someone (also from my department) pestering me for the total distance ran by the kids. I think I was really rude when I told her that no one is helping me to collate the results. I was quite pissed actually. The list is so long and I'm keying all those myself, how can I finish everything within such a short time? Yes she did offer to help, but she was way too slow, so in the end I ended up keying everything myself instead. And knowing that she's busy too, I didn't get her to help anymore. I didn't get Elaine and Aaron to help too because Elaine is busy with Napfa and Aaron with Adventure Club plus he's in afternoon session.

What was touching was, knowing that I couldn't get help from my own department (didn't get Elaine and Aaron to help also because they don't have to report to school so early), I seeked help from my friends in other departments. One of my lunch buddy offered to go to school earlier if I really can't find anyone to help. He lives at Boonlay. So I was really touched by his offer but I didn't want to trouble him. So I got another friend to help me since she'll be in school by 7am. It was really nice of her to help me as I know she's not really feeling well herself. She also helped me settle my leave instructions for my classes. So thanks Lynn for your help this entire day. It's not easy but I know all that you do, you do for the kids. Just that the kids do not appreciate it and they always go overboard.

The lesson learnt:
1) The next time I plan for things, I must make sure that I can manage everything myself. If I managed to get help from others, it's a bonus. If not, I must be able to stand alone. Never depend on others.

2) Friendship is important. Friends will run with you. Colleagues won't. So treasure your friendship!

Physically tired...

My legs are over strained... Been practising skipping with the P3s. Then I cycled to school everyday this week. And yesterday I stood for the whole mrt journey from Aljunied to Sembawang. Today, I ran 1.6km for 3 times to motivate the failures who retook their test. The results was great!!! But my calves are tight!!!

Tomorrow will be another day of standing and running for many hours. It's Family Day!Hopefully we can end early and I can have a good rest. I need to sleep!
